News The Boychick Affair, By Grandma Sylvia's Funeral Creator, to Debut in L.A. Amy Lord's The Boychick Affair – The Bar Mitzvah of Harry Boychick will make its world premiere starting Jan. 27, 2008, at Los Angeles' Hayworth Theater.

The new interactive show will have an open-ended run on the California stage.

In the tradition of Grandma Sylvia's Funeral, the new work is also "a hands-on environmental comedy show where audience members will mingle with the actors, affording them the opportunity to experience a nightmarishly hysterical 'dysfunctional family' up close and personal," according to show notes.

Taking the audience from the ceremony to the catered reception that follows, 23 characters are part of the "dancing, the fun and a celebratory meal as well."

Lord co-created and co-produced Grandma Sylvia's Funeral — in which she originated the role of Dori Grossman for the L.A. production. The actress was also seen in the role of Tina in Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding, created Club Disco and is at work on the musical Unbroken and the television pilot "A Slice of Life."

Tickets to The Boychick Affair at The Hayworth Theatre, 2509 Wilshire Blvd. (two blocks east of Rampart) in downtown Los Angeles, are available by calling (213) 389-9860 or online at TheHayworth.com.
