The Broadway premiere of Mart Crowley’s 1968 play The Boys in the Band has recouped its $3.5 million investment in 11 weeks of performances, producers David Stone, Scott Rudin, Patrick Catullo, Aaron Glick, and Ryan Murphy, announced July 16.

The Boys in the Band was the first production to open in the 2018–2019 season—and the first to recoup.

The 50th anniversary production began previews April 30 at the Booth Theatre, where it officially opened May 31. The limited engagement continues through August 11.

The cast, under the direction of Joe Mantello, features Jim Parsons, Zachary Quinto, Matt Bomer, Andrew Rannells, Robin De Jesús, Charlie Carver, Brian Hutchison, Michael Benjamin Washington, and Tuc Watkins.
