Tony Award-winning director Bartlett Sher (Golden Boy, South Pacific, The Light in the Piazza) helms the world-premiere musical (based on the 1992 Robert James Waller novel), which has a score by Tony winner Brown (Parade, Songs for a New World) and a book by Tony and Pulitzer Prize winner Norman (The Secret Garden, 'Night Mother). Performances continue through Aug. 18.

Elena Shaddow (The Light in the Piazza) co-stars with Steven Pasquale (Reasons to Be Pretty, Far From Heaven, "Rescue Me"). The two play Francesca and Robert Kincaid, respectively.

Tony Award nominee Kelli O'Hara, who is currently expecting her second child, will co-star with Pasquale in the Broadway production of Bridges of Madison County. The musical will begin Broadway previews Jan. 13, 2014, at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre. Opening will be in late February.

The Bridges of Madison County centers on a brief, four-day love affair between a National Geographic photographer and an Italian-American housewife in 1965 Iowa. Clint Eastwood and Meryl Streep starred in the 1995 film adaptation. The creative team includes Michael Yeargan (scenic design), Donald Holder (lighting design), Catherine Zuber (costume design), Jon Weston (sound design), Deborah Hecht (dialect coach) and Thomas Murray (music director).

Here's how Williamstown bills the musical: "The best-selling novel captivated millions of readers with the story of a beautiful Italian woman who marries an American soldier to flee war-ravaged Italy. Her new life on an Iowa farm is uncomplicated until the day a National Geographic photographer comes up her driveway looking for directions, forever changing the course of their lives. Developed by an extraordinary, award-winning creative team, this passionate new musical captures the lyrical expanse of America’s heartland along with the deep yearning entangled in the eternal question, 'What if...?'"
