The Broadway Dolls were created by Broadway veteran and cast member Hollie Howard (Hairspray, Mamma Mia!, Annie Get Your Gun) in 2007. Tour de Fierce, running through Oct. 16, is co-conceived, designed and helmed by Broadway Dolls artistic director Joey Murray.
The Tour de Fierce also stars Broadway Dolls Tracee Beazer (Memphis, The Wedding Singer, All Shook Up), Tracy Jai Edwards (Hairspray, Legally Blonde), Robyn Hurder (Grease, Chicago, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang), Gabrielle Ruiz (In the Heights, A Chorus Line) and Chelsea Morgan Stock (The Little Mermaid, Baby, It's You!).
In The Broadway Dolls in Tour de Fierce, according to press notes, "Girl group meets Broadway in a sassy and entertaining spectacle starring the official girl group of Broadway. This ambitious stage production mixes elements of Broadway, cabaret, fashion, performance art, music production and comedy in a non-stop song and dance concert starring The Broadway Dolls. The Broadway Dolls is a girl group featuring five of the most ferociously talented, sexy, and intelligent triple-threat ingénues of the Broadway stage – accomplished and contemporary women who tell the stories of their road to Broadway in a surprising, moving and often hilarious evening of theatrical fabulousness. In a word, fierce!"
Audiences can expect to hear a range of reinvented and stylized songs including "Toxic" by Britney Spears, "Baby I’m a Star" by Prince, and a medley of female standards from the musical theatre cannon.
Other members of the creative team include choreographer Jordan Fife Hunt, music director David Kreppel, music coordinator Barbara Helms, production stage manager Nancy Wernick and lighting designer Herrick Goldman. Now in its eighth year, the New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) is the largest annual musical theatre event in America.
