Broadway News   The Broadway Revival of Falsettos Will Play in Movie Theatres The show, originally filmed for Live from Lincoln Center, will hit big screens across the country starting July 12.

The Live from Lincoln Center broadcast of Falsettos will play in movie theatres for a very limited engagement across the country starting July 12, Screenvision Media and KAOS Connect have announced. The news comes fresh off the cast’s performance at the 71st Annual Tony Awards at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.

William Finn and James Lapine’s Falsettos opened at the Walter Kerr Theatre October 27, 2016. The musical tells the story of Marvin, his lover Whizzer, Marvin’s wife Trina, and their extended family through the early days of the AIDS crisis.

The revival of—which was nominated for five 2017 Tony Awards, including Best Revival of a Musical—was filmed January 3–4, ahead of its final performance on January 8. The filmed version is also set to be broadcast on PBS in October.

The cast was headed by Charlie and the Chocolate Factory two-time Tony Award winner Christian Borle (Something Rotten!, Peter and the Starcatcher) as Marvin, Tony nominee Stephanie J. Block (Wicked, Drood) as Trina, and Tony nominee Andrew Rannells (The Book of Mormon) as Whizzer, with Tracie Thoms (Rent) as Dr. Charlotte, Betsy Wolfe (The Last Five Years) as Cordelia, Tony nominee Brandon Uranowitz (An American in Paris) as Mendel, and Anthony Rosenthal (A Christmas Story) as Jason.

Lincoln Center Theater (under the direction of André Bishop) joined forces with Jujamcyn Theaters to bring the Tony Award-winning musical back to Broadway. Book writer and original director Lapine returned to helm to helm the revival.
