News The Caretaker With Jonathan Pryce, War Horse, Bring It On! to Play San Francisco The National Theatre production of War Horse; the new musical Bring It On!; and Harold Pinter's The Caretaker, starring Tony winner Jonathan Pryce, will play San Francisco as part of the 2011-2012 SHN Series.

Carole Shorenstein Hays and Robert Nederlander oversee the touring series that provides programming for the Orpheum, Curran and Golden Gate theatres. An additional production will be announced as part of the SHN season.

The national tour of the Tony Award-winning 2008 Broadway revival of Hair will play the Golden Gate Oct. 25-Nov. 10. Tony nominee Diane Paulus directed the 1968 counter-culture classic by Gerome Ragni, James Rado and Galt MacDermot.

Bring It On, which debuted at the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta last winter, will play the Orpheum Dec. 15-Jan. 7, 2012. Inspired by the film property, the original musical about the world of competitive cheerleading has a book by Tony winner Jeff Whitty (Avenue Q) and a score by Tony Award-winning composer Lin-Manuel Miranda (In The Heights), Pulitzer Prize and Tony winner Tom Kitt (Next to Normal) and lyricist Amanda Green (High Fidelity). Tony Award winner Andy Blankenbuehler (In the Heights) will direct and choreograph.

Harold Pinter's The Caretaker, starring Pryce (Miss Saigon) as the enigmatic drifter Davies, will play the Curran March 28-April 22, 2012. The revival debuted in London in 2009 with Christopher Morahan at the helm. The tense play centers on a stranger who takes up lodging in the home of a mentally challenged younger man and his brother.

The Tony Award-nominated rock musical American Idiot, based on the Grammy-winning Green Day album, will play the Orpheum July 10-Aug. 5, 2012. Michael Mayer directs and co-authored the book to the musical about disenfranchised American youth post 9/11 along with Green Day front man Billie Joe Armstrong. The new national tour of the international hit Les Miserables will follow, running July 10-Aug. 5, 2012, at the Orpheum. Laurence Connor and James Powell direct the newly conceived stage production of the Boublil and Schönberg musical.

The London hit War Horse, currently running on Broadway at Lincoln Center Theater, will gallop into the Curran Aug. 1-26, 2012. The epic drama about a boy and his horse during WWI uses lifelike equestrian puppets from the Tony-winning Handspring Puppet Company. Marianne Elliott and Tom Morris direct Nick Stafford's music-filled ensemble drama based on the children's novel by Michael Morpurgo.
