Directed by L. Walter Stearns, with musical direction by Eugene Dizon and choreography by Brenda Didier, the cast also includes Jasondra Johnson (Goodman Theatre's Crowns) as Sophia, Adrienne Walker (Marriott Theatre in Lincolnshire's Dreamgirls) as Shug Avery, Keithon Gipson as Mister, Evan Tyrone Martin as Harpo and Cortez Johnson as Ol' Mister.

Rounding out the ensemble are Carrie Louise Abernathy, Sydney Charles, Darrian Ford, Aaron Holland, Donterrio Johnson, Donica Lynn, Katrina Miller, Ninah Snipes and Crystal Woods.

Performances continue through Oct. 27.

The Color Purple, according to the Mercury, "is an epic, profoundly uplifting family saga that tells the unforgettable story of a woman who finds the strength to triumph over adversity and discover her unique voice in the world. With a joyous Grammy-nominated score featuring gospel, jazz, pop and the blues, The Color Purple is a hopeful testament to the healing power of love and a triumphant celebration of life."

This musical was adapted for the stage by Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winner Marsha Norman, with music and lyrics by Grammy Award winners Brenda Russell, Allee Willis and Stephen Bray.
