News The Columnist, Starring John Lithgow, Gets Final Extra Week on Broadway The world-premiere Broadway engagement of David Auburn's The Columnist, starring 2012 Tony Award nominee John Lithgow, is being extended for the final time, now to July 8.

The Manhattan Theatre Club production plays the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre on West 47th Street. Director Daniel Sullivan reunites with Auburn following their Tony-winning efforts on Proof to stage the story of political columnist Joseph Alsop.

Owing to the July 4 holiday, there is a special performance schedule for the final week. The July 2-8 schedule is Monday and Tuesday at 7 PM, Thursday through Saturday at 8 PM, with matinees on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 2 PM. There will be no performance on Wednesday, July 4.

The Columnist stars Tony and Emmy Award winner Lithgow, Drama Desk Award nominee Margaret Colin, four-time Tony Award winner Boyd Gaines, Tony Award nominee Stephen Kunken, Marc Bonan (Broadway debut), Grace Gummer ("Smash," Arcadia) and Brian J. Smith (MTC's Come Back, Little Sheba; "Stargate Universe").
