NY Musical Theatre Fest The Contest Continues; Broadway Idol Round Two Takes Place Sept. 22 Three competitors of the New York Musical Theatre Festival's "Broadway Idol" contest were eliminated during Round One, "My Favorite Things," on Sept. 15 at 11 PM at New World Stages.

The six finalists moving on to Round Two on Sept. 22 include Shannon Amiry, Elizabeth DeRosa, Jaclyn Huberman, Beth Kirkpatrick, Jamieson Lindenburg and Katie Thompson.

In Round Two, titled "Anyone Can Idol," performers will sing one Sondheim song of their choice. The three with the most votes go on to Round Three. The ring of celebrity judges will include actors that have previously appeared on Broadway in Stephen Sondheim shows.

Approximately 175 people attended the "Broadway Idol" open auditions on Sept. 11, which were open to any performer who has not previously acted in a Broadway show. Contestants were waiting in line as early as 11PM the night before.

Round Three, Sept 29: "A Star Is Born": performers sing two songs of their choice – one that made another performer famous and the on that's going to make them famous. The one with the most votes is crowned the first ever Broadway Idol and will be featured exclusively in a concert at Ars Nova to be produced by NYMF.
