Oct. 29 will see the debut of The Death of Griffin Hunter, the latest play by Off-Off-Broadway's favorite (did someone say "only"?) verse dramatist, Kirk Wood Bromley. The Inverse Theater Company production will officially open Nov. 1 for a run through Nov. 22 at Soho Rep (46 Walker St.)

Bromley's tragedy concerns the title character, a newly-appointed UN undersecretary for disarmament. He has arrived in San Francisco for a conference and the opening night of a play starring his wife, but he finds little chance for diplomacy in a mad world of international moguls, hackers and college pals.

Griffin Hunter stars Matthew Maher, who starred this past summer in P.S. 122's The Race of the Ark Tattoo. Also in the cast, under Emma Griffin's direction, are Joshua Spafford, Al Benditt and Jeni Henaghan.

Bromley had previously penned such ambitious, sprawling works as Want's Unwished Work and Icarus and Aria.
