The Drowsy Chaperone earned the most nominations for 2006 Los Angeles Ovation Awards, with 12 nods. Alfred Molina, Larry Bryggman, Laurie Metcalf, David Hyde Pierce, Bob Martin, Sutton Foster, Marc Kudisch, Judy Kaye and Karen Ziemba are also among the nominees.
The honors will be presented by the L.A. Stage Alliance at ceremony to be held at the Orpheum Theatre on Broadway in the downtown Los Angeles historic theatre district, Nov. 13. The peer-judged Ovation Awards, established in 1989, honor "artistic excellence of L.A.'s theatres and theatre artists, and their continuing contribution to the vibrant cultural scene."
Composer Jerry Herman will receive a Career Achievement honor. California Institute of the Arts Community Arts Partnership (CAP) will receive the Community Outreach Award.
