News The Edinburgh Festival Hosts a Million Customers The Edinburgh Festival has confirmed that earlier this week it sold comfortably over a million tickets, a twenty-one percent increase on ticket sales last year.

Edinburgh has always been a very popular feature of the August arts scene, and this year's sunny weather has encouraged more people than usual. It remains the case that the dominant art form of the Fringe is comedy, but there are plenty of plays on offer, too.

No one particular play has taken off in the spectacular fashion associated with Edinburgh in its heyday (arguably the 1980s), but many of the nation's drama critics have moved North for most of August.
