William Jackson Harper joins Audible Theater’s growing roster of performers with his upcoming recording of the solo play Wally Roux, Quantum Mechanic, to be released August 1.

Best known for his starring role as Chidi on NBC’s hit comedy The Good Place, Harper has his roots in theatre. He made his Off-Broadway debut in 2010 in A Cool Dip in the Barren Saharan Crick and followed that up with Titus Andronicus at the Public Theater in 2011. He appeared in the world premiere of The Total Bent at the Public in 2012 and Modern Terrorism, or They Who Want to Kill Us And How We Learn To Love Them at Second Stage Off-Broadway. He made his Broadway debut in All The Way as Stokely Carmichael. In 2017, he returned to Off-Broadway—this time with Lincoln Center Theater—for After the Blast. He recently appeared in the horror film Midsommar.

Written by Nick Carr, Wally Roux was a commission from Audible’s Emerging Playwrights Fund, which supports the creation of original plays “driven by language and voice.” Past Audible recordings include Billy Crudup’s performance of Harry Clarke and Carey Mulligan’s Girls & Boys.

Audible Theater currently presents the way she spoke at the Minetta Lane Theatre, starring Kate Del Castillo, through August 16.
