As a celebration of this year's 25th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between China and Australia, the Chinese Circus is touring Australia. This is the first time The Great Chinese Circus has performed outside China.

The Great Chinese Circus is reputedly the greatest showcase of Chinese Circus acts ever assembled, including trapeze, clowns, acrobats, aerialists, balancers, contortionists. The best elite performers representing China's over 200 professional circus companies, these performers from China have won countless international gold medals.

The Great Chinese Circus touring party includes more than 100 people, features over 20 different world-class acts and a 10-piece show band. For the trivia minded, the Circus will travel with five tons of stage props, over 200 costumes and several semi-trailers of lighting equipment and stage sets across Australia. It will be one of the largest short-season entertainment tours ever staged in Australia.

To ensure better close up vision the Circus performances throughout Australia will be presented in intimate mode seating plans, limiting audience capacities to around 3,000. The performance time will be two hours.

The Melbourne season opens at the Melbourne Sports and Entertainment Centre on Saturday January 24 and runs Sunday Jan. 25 at 12.30 pm, 4 pm and 7.30 pm; Wednesday 28 at 2 pm and 7.30 pm; Friday 30 at 7.30 pm; and Saturday 31 at 12.30 pm and 7.30 pm. Bookings: 11500. Country Callers 1800 338 998. Group bookings (03) 9286 1347.
