News The Last Ship Takes Down Its Sails As Sting Delivers a Moving Curtain Call Speech The Last Ship, the new musical by and starring 16-time Grammy winner Sting — inspired by the songwriter's own childhood — ended its Broadway run on Jan. 24 after just under four months of performances at the Neil Simon Theatre.

In a final address to the audience, Sting commended the show's cast and crew, while drawing parallels between the show's story of the shipyard and that of the survival of the production itself. "There's no point in pretending this is unemotional," Sting began as cast members took to the stage for their final bow. "There'll never be another ship like this. Not one that I built."
