News The Legend of Julie Taymor Lives On in Encore Series Beginning Sept. 14 The Legend of Julie Taymor, or The Musical That Killed Everybody!, a hit at this summer's New York International Fringe Festival, plays an additional five performances Sept. 14-17 as part of the FringeNYC Encore Series.

Encore performances are scheduled for Sept. 14-17 at 7 PM and Sept. 17 at 10:30 PM at The Players Theatre, 115 MacDougal Street.

The Encore cast features Tina Stafford (I Married Wyatt Earp, Illyria) as Julie (Jennifer Barnhart, who was honored for her performance as Julie in the Fringe run, was unable to continue due to a previous theatre commitment), Christopher Davis Carlisle (Off-Broadway’s With Glee) as an unrelenting theatre columnist, with Clint Carter, Lynn Craig (national tour of Cats), Stephanie Gandolfo, Johnnie Moore, Shaun Rice, Barry Shafrin and Michael Titone.

The musical by Travis Ferguson (book and lyrics) and Dave Ogrin (music and lyrics), press note state, "tells the story of the rise and fall of director Julie Taymor and the behind-the-scenes scandals of Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark which has since become a modern Broadway legend. ... This high-energy rock musical rips straight from the headlines and follows Julie's course through the most expensive Broadway musical of all time; facing financial problems, actor injuries, technical malfunctions, opening delays, scathing reviews, all while battling her arch-nemesis, an unrelenting theatre columnist."

Songs in the production include "Broadway's Burning," "Boy Falls From The Rafters," "Julie, Julie, Why Did You Hurt Me?," "Tweet, Tweet, Tweet!" and "Julie's Turn."

The production features direction and choreography by Joe Barros (I Married Wyatt Earp at 59E59). The creative team also includes Rachel Guilfoyle (costume designer), Michael Megliola (lighting designer), David Fletcher (music director), Stephanie Gandolfo (assistant choreographer), Caitlin Lyons (production stage manager), George Bernard (assistant stage manager), Steven Weinberg (graphic artist), Lexie Pregosin (conceptual consultant) and Danielle M. Falls of Daryl Eisenberg Casting (casting). A graduate of NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, Travis Ferguson co-developed the "Be A Broadway Star" board game with Broadway producer Ken Davenport. Dave Ogrin has worked with the Beastie Boys, Paul Simon  and Run DMC as a musician and engineer. Ferguson also currently works for Playbill.com and the Jerome Robbins Foundation.
