Broadway Records has announced the release of the original Off-Broadway cast recording for The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical, which continues its limited engagement at the Lucille Lortel Theatre. The album is currently available for pre-order from BroadwayRecords.com, and comes with an official show T-shirt.

The Lightning Thief cast recording is being produced by Michael Croiter and Rob Rokicki, and executive-produced by Grammy Award winner Van Dean.

“From the moment the first note played at The Lighting Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical, I knew I wanted to be involved in the future of this new, exciting musical. It’s a vibrant and original adaptation of a story that is beloved by millions. I think the fans will truly love this album,” commented Dean in a press statement.

The show began performances Off-Broadway March 23 and is scheduled to play through May 6. Adapted from the book of the same name by Rick Riordan, the new musical is written by Joe Tracz (Series of Unfortunate Events) and Rob Rokicki (Strange Tails), with direction by Stephen Brackett.

In the title role is Chris McCarrell (Les Miserables, Peter Pan Live, The OA), who stars alongside a cast made up of Carrie Compere, James Hayden Rodriguez, Sarah Beth Pfeifer, Jonathan Raviv, George Salazar, and Kristin Stokes. The entire original Off-Broadway cast will be featured on the cast album.

An earlier version of The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical debuted in New York in 2014 as part of Theatreworks USA’s free theatre series before heading on tour. The Off-Broadway show, which opened April 4 to positive reviews, features an updated score, expanded script, a larger cast, and a live band.

Tickets are $65-$85 and can be purchased by visiting LightningThiefMusical.com and (866) 811-4111.
