Anyone wondering who will prevail at the Tonys, The Lion King or Ragtime, won't get any clues from the EW Theatre Awards results. The two shows tied for annual the best musical prize.

These are the fourth annual awards for EW Magazine, an arts and entertainment publication out of the Baltimore-Washington, D.C. area. Recipients of the 1998 Outstanding Achievement in Theatre Awards are actress, director, and choreographer Debbie Allen, composer Cy Coleman, and director and designer Julie Taymor.
