The Lobbyists offer Songs from SeaWife Jan. 2 at 11:30 PM at 54 Below.

Downtown indie-rockster/folksters The Lobbyists, who have crafted a distinctive harmony-driven style that draws on folk, bluegrass, country, pop and Americana, comprise Tommy Crawford (music director, vocals, guitar, accordion), Eloïse Eonnet (vocals, percussion), Alex Grubbs (vocals, mandolin, guitar), Will Turner (vocals, banjo, guitar), Tony Vo (vocals, cajon, guitar) and Douglas Waterbury-Tieman.

For this one-night-only concert, The Lobbyists perform songs from their upcoming concert play SeaWife, created with playwright Seth Moore and developed by director Liz Carlson.

SeaWife, according to press notes, is a "modern theatrical event inspired by the deep well of 19th Century nautical literature. A haunting tale marked with romance, tragedy, sea monsters, and ghosts, the immersive concert play follows Percy, a young sailor bred within the golden age of American whaling, as he embarks on a journey through port cities and sea vessels, discovering the effects of man’s propensity to conquer." SeaWife was developed with Naked Angels, which aims to debut the work in summer 2015.
