News The Longing and Short of It – Songs by Daniel Maté Plays the Barrington Aug. 7-8 Barrington Stage Company's Musical Theatre Lab — under the mentorship of Tony-winning composer/lyricist William Finn — continues Aug. 7-8 with The Longing and Short of It – Songs by Daniel Maté.

The 8 PM concerts at BSC Stage 2 in Pittsfield, MA, feature the talents of Marie-France Arcilla, Heath Calvert, bassist Carl Oman, percussionist Josh Samuels, Jason "SweetTooth" Williams and composer Maté. Finn directs with musical direction by Christopher D. Littlfield. Daniel Maté wrote lyrics and co-wrote the book (with Will Aronson) for The Trouble with Doug, a Kafka-inspired musical that premiered at New York 's CAP 21 Studios. His songs have been performed in New York at Joe's Pub, the Duplex and as part of the York Theatre Company's 4th NEO ("New, Emerging, Outstanding") Concert in 2008. His sold-out cabaret, Marry Me, America, was a Time Out New York "Critics' Pick." Maté also teaches songwriting to young people and runs a custom-songwriting service; visit www.danielmate.com.
