Sullivan Jones (Hulu’s The Looming Tower) leads the company of The Winning Side, a new play by James Wallert. The production from Epic Theatre Ensemble began October 3 at Theatre Row’s Acorn Theatre, where it officially opens October 8. Performances are scheduled through October 28.

Jones stars as Wernher von Braun, the real-life engineer for the Third Reich-turned NASA rocket scientist. The play explores his hand in the 1969 Apollo 11 moon landing.

Ron Russell directs a cast that also includes Melissa Friedman, Godfrey L. Simmons, Jr. , and Devin E. Haqq. (Russell and Friedman are co-founders of Epic Theatre Ensemble, along with James Wallert.)

The production features sets and projection design by Chika Shimizu, lighting design by Cat Tate Starmer, costumes by Betsy Rugg-Hinds, and sound design by Russell.
