THE LORD OF THE RINGS
arrives on stage in Toronto on February 2, 2006. Playbill readers get a first look with access to exclusive video footage highlighting how the most massive theatrical production ever mounted was developed for the stage.


The documentary tracks the three years that were spent in research and development of the production including interviews and comments from Director Matthew Warchus and Designer Rob Howell. As a truly international collaboration, THE LORD OF THE RINGS documentary features footage filmed in London, England, Helsinki, Finland and Chennai, India. On stage the production will feature an ensemble of over 70 actors, singers and musicians.

Part two of the documentary features Composers A.R. RAHMAN and VÄRTINNÄ, along with musical supervisor CHRISTOPHER NIGHTINGALE, discuss their inspiration and style of writing while producer KEVIN WALLACE talks about the power of live theatre.
