Press notes describe the show as "a topical mix of entertainment, discussion and showbiz glamour with the occasional musical treat thrown in from the man himself." Ball "will be chatting with established showbiz personalities as well as introducing a variety of rising stars. Guest experts will join him to discuss topics of the day and he will learn how to cook from a host of famous culinary faces." He will also "be spotlighting the people who have hit the headlines and meeting some of the country's unsung heroes."

Ball said in a statement,
"I'm hugely excited to be joining ITV at such an exciting time for the channel. This show is a great challenge, which I hope will be lots of fun and feature lots of old friends as well as some new ones. I'm really looking forward to getting started."

Ball received an Olivier Award for playing Edna Turnblad in the original London company of Hairspray, a role he recently toured throughout the U.K. Other London stage credits include Les Miserables, Aspects of Love (in which he also appeared on Broadway), Passion, The Woman in White and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
