The Morning After/The Night Before, a new musical by Jeff Beinstock that bounces in time between a wild party and its aftermath, premieres at the Lucille Lortel Theatre Aug. 18-28 as part of the New York International Fringe Festival.

Diana Glazer directs a cast that includes Jed Resnick, Whit Baldwin, Jason Collins, Shira Gregory, Michelle K. Moore, Max Spitulnik, Meg Steedle, with guest stars to be announced later.

According to press notes, "a young man wakes up after a wild party to discover his best friend—an actress on the verge of getting married to an older man—lying asleep beside him. With the help of his friends, including a flaky attorney/drug dealer, a beautiful (but frigid) doctor, and a hot-to-trot guitarist with mother issues, our protagonist must overcome a whopping hangover to uncover the truth behind his fuzzy memories of the previous evening. The action bounces back and forth in time until not even the characters themselves are sure if they are experiencing the remorse of The Morning After . . . or the ecstasy of The Night Before."

Beinstock holds a B.A. in music composition from Occidental and an M.A. from New York University's Steinhardt School. He is currently working on a musicalization of the comic strip Calvin & Hobbes with composer Brian A. Hobbs, and a musical version of the 1957 film A Face In The Crowd with composer/lyricist Eric March.

The performance dates for the musical are Aug. 23 at 11:30 PM; Aug. 26 at 10:15 PM; Aug. 27 at 4:45 PM; Aug. 28 at 7:30 PM. The first performance was Aug. 18 at 2:15 PM.

The Lucille Lortel Theatre is located at 121 Christopher Street. For tickets, visit ticketweb.com. For more information, visit fringenyc.org.
