The Musical Lovers' Guide to BroadwayCon!

News   The Musical Lovers' Guide to BroadwayCon! Schedules for Ultimate Fans, Souvenir-Lovers and Insiders
BroadwayCon

Nothing's as amazing as a musical, and there's no better place for musical theatre buffs to celebrate the art form than BroadwayCon. We have a ton of programming covering your favorite shows, performers, crew and everything it takes to make a musical — from the first note to the last.

Our fave events for musical devotees:

First things first. This is a weekend about fun and sharing your enthusiasm for all things Broadway with other people who love all things Broadway. Find the meetup that best suits you and make new friends to spend convention with! At 10 AM and 11 AM on Friday you can choose from meetups for Sondheim Fans, Andrew Lloyd Webber Fans, Smash Fans, Fansies, Hamilfans, and Rentheads.

Fans of Spring Awakening can't miss our "Deaf West, East" panel on Friday at 1 PM. You'll hear from members of the cast — including Austin P. McKenzie, Sandra Mae Frank, Katie Boeck, Daniel Durant, Alex Boniello, Andy Mientus and Krysta Rodriguez — and creative team — including production stage manager T.J. Kearney and choreographer Spencer Liff. Mark your BroadwayCon planner accordingly!

It's going to be as crowded as a Ham4Ham show, but anyone who remotely likes musicals will want to attend History is Happening in Manhattan: The Hamilton Panel on Friday at 5 PM. Lin-Manuel Miranda will be joined by members of the cast, including Daveed Diggs, Jonathan Groff, Reneé Elise Goldsberry, Christopher Jackson and Phillipa Soo.

How do you measure a year? How about 20? We have the original team from the seminal classic Rent coming to celebrate the show's momentous anniversary Friday at 7:30 PM. Be prepared to see BroadwayCon founder and original Mark, Anthony Rapp, alongside Adam Pascal, Daphne Rubin-Vega and more, plus the people who first brought Rent to New York Theatre Workshop.

Attention all songwriters (and curious song-lovers)! Find out what it takes to write a hit show direct from the writers' mouths at Saturday's "Words and Music: Songwriters on Songwriting" at 5 PM. You'll hear takes on the writing process from the likes of Joe Iconis ("Smash"), Shaina Taub (currently working on the music for the Public's Twelfth Night) and more. It's time to reveal the mystery behind the music.

And, of course: our sing-alongs. If you can't stop rapping alongside Daveed Diggs on your Hamilton soundtrack or you want to rock out to some American Idiot, Saturday’s "Modern Music(als) Singalong" at 8 PM is the way to wind down your second day at BroadwayCon. Or, catch Sunday's "The Pippins and Wickeds and Kinkies, Matildas, and Mormonses' Singalong" at 3 PM for any fan looking for revel in the score of their favorite show.

We've divided up the programming to best serve your goals. Whether you're the ultimate fan, an industry insider, an aspiring performer, or your want to gather all the swag you can, we've got the itinerary for you.
