Broadway News The Nap Begins Previews on Broadway September 5 The new play by One Man, Two Guvnors playwright Richard Bean arrives on Broadway in a production from MTC.

Performances begin September 5 at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre for the Broadway premiere of Richard Bean's The Nap, a comedic look at the world of snooker. The new play from One Man, Two Guvnors playwright Bean makes its American debut in a production from Manhattan Theatre Club directed by Tony winner Daniel Sullivan.

The cast of The Nap is made up of Alexandra Billings (Transparent, Goliath), Tony Award nominee John Ellison Conlee (Murder Ballad, The Full Monty), two-time Tony Award nominee Johanna Day (Proof, Sweat), four-time and 2018 United States National Snooker Champion Ahmed Aly Elsayed, Ethan Hova (Metrocards, The Blacklist), Heather Lind (Incognito, Othello), Max Gordon Moore (Saint Joan, Indecent), Bhavesh Patel (Present Laughter, War Horse), Thomas Jay Ryan (The Crucible, In The Next Room (or The Vibrator Play)), and Ben Schnetzer (Sticks and Bones, Pride).

In The Nap, Dylan Spokes (Schnetzer), a fast-rising young snooker star arrives for a championship tournament only to be confronted by the authorities with a warning about match fixing. Before he knows it, he is forced into underhanded dealings with a cast of colorful characters that include his ex-convict dad (Conlee), his mother (Day), a quick-tongued manager (Gordon Moore), and a renowned gangster (Billings).

The Nap will officially open on Broadway September 27.

The creative team for the production also includes David Rockwell (scenic design), Kaye Voyce (costume design), Justin Townsend (lighting design), Lindsay Jones (original music and sound design), Anne Ford-Coates (hair and make-up design), Ben Furey (dialect coach), and Thomas Schall (fight director).
