Created and performed by Geoff Sobelle, the production takes place in a room filled with numerous cardboard boxes, as well as other objects. While encountering the objects in the room, Sobelle's character revisits a love story from the past.
In order to be eligible for the award, which is presented annually to a show staged at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, the work must be original and never-before produced in New York City. Only shows that have received 4 or 5-star reviews in the daily newspaper The Scotsman are considered.
The winner is chosen by a committee that includes Tambor as well as Joyce McMillan, Jackie McGlone and Mark Fisher.
The Object Lesson will be featured at the Next Wave Festival at the Brooklyn Academy of Music Nov. 5-8.
