With 30 seconds left in the cliffhanger Jan. 10 playoff game between the Seattle Seahawks and the Minnesota Vikings, and only about the same amount of time left before the curtain was scheduled to rise at the Seattle Paramount Theatre for that day's performance of Book of Mormon, the audience burst into laughter at the PA announcement that people should turn off their handheld devices.
It wasn't going to happen. Fans wanted to see the hit show, but they also wanted to know the outcome of the game.
It all worked out for the best, according to the Seattle Times The Seahawks won, the audience went wild, and the curtain rose more or less on time.
As the Times put it, "Since this is Seattle, we assume they all politely put their cellphones away and were very quiet afterwards.
