News   The Queen's a Hit, As The Audience, Starring Helen Mirren, Recoups on Broadway
Peter Morgan's The Audience, which stars Oscar winner Helen Mirren as Queen Elizabeth II, has recouped its $3,400,000 production cost in eight weeks.

Directed by Stephen Daldry, The Audience began previews Feb. 14 and officially opened March 8 at Broadway’s Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre; performances continue through June 28.

"For sixty years Elizabeth II has met each of her twelve Prime Ministers in a weekly audience at Buckingham Palace," according to press notes. "Both parties have an unspoken agreement never to repeat what is said, not even to their spouses."
