News The Rest Is Silence: Umoja Closed for Good on West End

A press release by the Shaftesbury Theatre/Theatre of Comedy has stated that "The Shaftesbury Theatre, representatives from Camden Council and the show's producer have all been working together in an endeavour to find a way to reinstate Umoja to the Shaftesbury Theatre stage.

"Regrettably, following weeks of negotiations, it has not been possible to resurrect the South African hit show Umoja at the Shaftesbury Theatre." The show was closed because of complaints about the level of noise generated by the drums that were such a spectacular part of the show. Hopefully the theatre will be able to ensure appropriate sound levels for future musicals, but for Umoja, as for the dying Hamlet, "the rest is silence."
