This production — previously seen in the U.K. — opened Jan. 8 at the Lyric Theatre, QPAC, in Brisbane, and stars television and theatre actor Craig McLachlan ("The Doctor Blake Mysteries") as Frank 'N' Furter.

O'Brien, who attended the production's opening night in Brisbane, begins performances March 20 at the Festival Theatre. Following Adelaide, Rocky Horror will play the Comedy Theatre, Melbourne (beginning April 24).

"We are thrilled that Richard O'Brien has agreed to play the Narrator in Adelaide. To have the creator of this iconic musical join the 40th Anniversary production for this limited time is a dream come true, and I'm sure Rocky Horror fans will flock to Adelaide to see this once in a lifetime opportunity," said producers Panter and Frost in an earlier statement. "We thought audiences would love to do the Time Warp again with our terrific cast, and with ticket sales going through the roof in every city, we've been proved right. And now with Richard in the cast as well, audiences better be prepared to give themselves over to absolute pleasure. Make sure you buy a ticket before it's sold out, and before madness takes its toll."

Joining McLachlan are Christie Whelan Browne and Tim Maddren as Janet and Brad, respectively. Kristian Lavercombe reprises his performance as Riff Raff, the role he played in New Zealand and the U.K., and Erika Heynatz, who was nominated for a Helpmann Award for Legally Blonde, plays Magenta.

Also in the cast are Ashlea Pyke as Columbia, Nicholas Christo as Eddie and Dr. Scott and Brendan Irving as Rocky. The Phantoms are played by Luigi Lucente, Vincent Hooper, Meghan O'Shea and Angela Scundi. The swing/dance captain is James Maxfield. The show's engagement at the Crown Theatre, Perth, began Feb. 14. Rocky Horror has not been seen in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide for 15 years.

Here's how the musical is described: "One dark and stormy night, follow squeaky clean sweethearts Brad and Janet as they embark on an adventure they'll never forget, when they stumble upon the scandalous Frank N Furter, the rippling Rocky, a mysterious Riff Raff, the vivacious Magenta and the ultimate show stopping toe tapping gal, Columbia. Get ready for a night of fun, frolics and frivolity in this all-new production of Richard O’Brien's classic iconic story."

The Rocky Horror Show opened at London's Royal Court Theatre June 19, 1973, quickly developing a cult following, and was adapted into the 1975 film "The Rocky Horror Picture Show," which has the longest-running release in film history.
