News The Rocky Horror Show to Return to the West End and Will Screen in Cinemas Richard O'Brien, the original creator of The Rocky Horror Show, is to return to the show to make his first stage appearances in the U.K. in over 10 years.

He will play the Narrator in a short return season for the show that will run at the West End's Playhouse Theatre Sept. 11-19 only, with a gala charity performance being staged in aid of Amnesty International Sept. 17 that will also be broadcast live to cinemas across the U.K. and Europe.

The live cinema screening is presented by Picture Entertainment and Rocky Horror Company, and will be streamed to Germany, Norway, Sweden and Denmark. There are also plans for the gala performance to be broadcast on TV around the world in countries including America, Australia and New Zealand in autumn 2015.

The production, directed by Christopher Luscombe, will embark on a new national tour beginning performances Dec. 17 at Brighton's Theatre Royal.

In a press statement, O'Brien commented, "Thanks to Picturehouse Entertainment, The Rocky Horror Show is coming to a cinema near you! I’m delighted to be returning to London, where Rocky started, and performing in the show after more than 20 years. It's just fabulous that the world’s favourite rock ‘n’ roll musical will be beamed to many, many cinemas across the UK and Europe, via satellite. Everyone should prepare for a night of frolics and celebrations by joining us on the big screen!" Tickets for the cinema screenings go on sale July 31.
