News THE SCREENING ROOM: Celebrating the Tony and Pulitzer-Winning Musical Rent (Video) The Tony Award-winning and Pulitzer Prize-winning rock musical Rent, a work that broke ground in the contemporary musical theatre, opened on Broadway 17 years ago on April 29, 1996. Here, Playbill.com celebrates the iconic piece by the late Jonathan Larson.
