The David Fincher-Beau Willimon series is based on Michael Dobbs' novel and British miniseries of the same name, which depict political intrigue on Wall Street.
Fincher ("The Social Network") produces the political drama and directs the first two episodes of the series. Netflix has ordered 26 episodes to play over two seasons.
Also in the cast are Sebastian Arcelus (Elf, Jersey Boys), Michael Gill, Robin Wright, Corey Stoll (A View From the Bridge), Sakina Jaffrey, Kate Mara, Wass Stevens, Constance Zimmer, Mahershala Ali, Tony nominee Jayne Atkinson (Enchanted April, The Rainmaker) and Sandrine Holt.
Here's how Netflix describes the series: "Ruthless and cunning, Congressman Francis Underwood (Spacey) and his wife Claire (Wright) stop at nothing to conquer everything. This wicked political drama penetrates the shadowy world of greed, sex, and corruption in modern D.C."
