It transferred to the La Jolla Playhouse for an engagement through Dec. 31. Superstar officially opened on Broadway March 22 at the Neil Simon Theatre. Andrew Lloyd Webber (music) and Tim Rice (lyrics) penned the driving rock opera about the final days of Christ, which  premiered on Broadway in 1971.
