News THE SCREENING ROOM: Michelle Williams Takes the Stage The Roundabout Theatre Company is expected to announce that Academy Award nominee Michelle Williams will star as Sally Bowles in a 2014 Broadway revival of the Kander and Ebb musical Cabaret.

Williams ("Brokeback Mountain," "My Week With Marilyn") has been tapped to play aspiring star Sally Bowles opposite Alan Cumming, who is reprising his Tony Award-winning role as the Master of Ceremonies.

Directed by Tony and Academy Award winner Sam Mendes (Gypsy, "American Beauty") and choreographed by Rob Marshall ("Chicago," "Nine," Kiss of the Spider Woman), the production will mark Williams' Broadway debut.

Williams' acting skills have been noted since her breakout role in the TV teen drama "Dawson's Creek," and her roles in dramatic films like "Blue Valentine," "I'm Not There" and "Shutter Island" have earned her acclaim. She has performed song and dance numbers in films before, but Cabaret will mark her first starring role in a musical.
