News THE SCREENING ROOM: Playbill Video Celebrates 54 Below Performances From Patti LuPone, Telly Leung, Andrea McArdle, Ben Vereen and More (Video) The inviting new nightlife venue 54 Below, designed by Tony Award winner John Lee Beatty and architect Richard Lewis, opened its doors last summer with a special engagement by Tony Award winner Patti LuPone.

Since then, the swanky space owned by Tom Viertel, Marc Routh, Richard Frankel and Steven Baruch, has showcased the work of new and established songwriters, as well as such theatre icons as Len Cariou, Linda Lavin, Leslie Uggams and Andrea McArdle. The venue has also featured memorable engagements by Justin Vivian Bond, Sherie Rene Scott, Liz Callaway, Michael Cerveris, Bridget Everett and Cole Escola.

54 Below has lighting by Tony Award winner Ken Billington and sound by Tony Award nominee Peter Hylenski. MAC Award winner Phil Geoffrey Bond is the director of programming.
