The Irish Repertory Theatre production of Conor McPherson’s The Seafarer, starring two-time Tony winner Matthew Broderick, will now continue through May 24 following an extension announcement. The Off-Broadway production began performances March 30 and was originally scheduled through May 13.
The Seafarer will officially open April 18. Ciarán O’Reilly directs a cast completed by Colin McPhillamy as Richard, Michael Mellamphy as Ivan, Andy Murray as Sharky, and Tim Ruddy as Nicky. Broderick plays the role of Lockhart.
The play, about a Christmas Eve poker game that receives an unexpected guest, premiered in 2006 at London's Royal National Theatre before opening on Broadway the following year.
The limited engagement of The Seafarer features sets by Charlie Corcoran, lighting design by Brian Nason, costumes by Martha Halley, and sound design by M. Florian Staab and Ryan Rumery. Original music is by Rumery.
