Shepherd, who departs "The View" on Aug. 8 after serving as co-host for eight years, will begin performances as Madame Sept. 9. Producers announced Aug. 4 that actress, singer and talk-show host Keke Palmer would also make her Broadway debut in the show's title role on the same date.
Shepherd is also known for her work as Angie Jordan on "30 Rock," as well as her Lifetime series "Sherri." Her screen work also includes "How I Met Your Mother," "Dancing with the Stars," "Less Than Perfect," "Everybody Loves Raymond," "Abducted," "Precious" and "Beauty Shop." Shepard was also seen in the Off-Broadway run of Love, Loss and What I Wore.
Now in its second year on Broadway and celebrating its 600th performance Aug. 9, Cinderella currently features Paige Faure as Cinderella, Joe Carroll as Prince Topher, Nancy Opel as Madame, Victoria Clark as the Fairy Godmother, Ann Harada as stepsister Charlotte, Stephanie Gibson as stepsister Gabrielle, Peter Bartlett as Sebastian, Prince Topher's mentor and Lord Chancellor, Todd Buonopane as the rebel Jean-Michel and Phumzile Sojola as Lord Pinkleton.
Cinderella has music by Richard Rodgers, lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, a new book by Douglas Carter Beane and original book by Hammerstein II. The musical is directed by Mark Brokaw, with choreography by Josh Rhodes, music adaptation, supervision and arrangements by David Chase and orchestrations by Danny Troob. Constantine Kitsopoulos is currently music director and conductor.
