News "The Voice" Contestant Is New Star of Andrew Lloyd Webber's U.S. Phantom of the Opera Tour Classically trained singer Chris Mann, the third runner-up in the second season of the NBC singing competition "The Voice," will assume the title role in the current national tour of Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera.

Laurence Connor, who also directed the returns of Miss Saigon and Les Misérables, staged this new production of Phantom that began its U.S. tour in November 2013 after a 2012 U.K. premiere. The tour retains the late Maria Björnson's original, Tony Award-winning costume design.

Mann, who has also been seen in his own PBS special "Chris Mann In Concert: A Mann For All Seasons" and has also released his own solo albums, will take over the role of The Phantom Nov. 25 in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.

Joining him on that date will be Katie Travis as Christine Daaé, Storm Lineberger as Raoul and Anne Kanengeiser as Madame Giry. David Benoit will return to the role of Monsieur Firmin, and Morgan Cowling will assume the role of Meg Giry.

They join current tour cast members Jacquelynne Fontaine as Carlotta Giudicelli, Edward Staudenmayer as Monsieur André and Frank Viveros as Ubaldo Piangi.

The Phantom ensemble includes Adam Bashian, Krista Buccellato, Nick Cartell, Dan Debenport, Amy Decker, Mark Emerson, David Foley, Jr., Celia Hottenstein, Christopher M. Howard, Merritt David Janes, Edward Juvier, Ted Keener, Luke Lazzaro, Jay Lusteck, Katie McCreary, Grace Morgan, Christy Morton, Lindsay O’Neil, Quinto Ott, Eric Ruiz, Allan Snyder, Marguerite Willbanks, Christina Dooling, Sarah DeBiase, Anjelica Bette Fellini, Ramona Kelley, Abigail Mentzer, Lily Rose Peck, Alexandra Pernice, Tara Sweeney and Micki Weiner. This new Phantom has choreography by Scott Ambler, set design by Paul Brown, lighting design by Paule Constable, sound design by Mick Potter and musical supervision by John Rigby.

The production is overseen by Matthew Bourne and Cameron Mackintosh.

The Phantom of the Opera has music by Lloyd Webber, lyrics by Charles Hart (with additional lyrics by Richard Stilgoe) and book by Richard Stilgoe and Lloyd Webber, based on the Gaston Leroux novel about a deformed musical genius who lives in the bowels of the Paris Opera House and tutors a young soprano.

Orchestrations are by David Cullen and Lloyd Webber.
