The upcoming national tour of Waitress will play a three-week engagement in Chicago next summer.
Performances will run July 3–22, 2018, at the Cadillac Palace Theatre. As previously announced, the tour will kick off in Cleveland in October. An engagement is also scheduled at Los Angeles' Pantages Theatre and the Denver Center for the Performing Arts.
Additional information, including a full tour itinerary and casting, will be announced at a later date.
Waitress opened on Broadway in 2016 at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre. Based on the 2007 film by the late Adrienne Shelly, the musical follows a southern diner employee who dreams of escaping her abusive marriage through her creatively titled pies and a tryst with her OB/GYN. The show features a score by Grammy nominee Sara Bareilles and a book by Jessie Nelson. Tony winner Diane Paulus directs.
