Additional casting has been announced for Vassar & New York Stage and Film’s Powerhouse season, which launched June 23 in Poughkeepsie, New York.
Emmy winner Richard Schiff (The West Wing), Jeffrey Omura, David Shih, and Jeena Yi have been cast in a July 7–9 workshop presentation of Lauren Yee’s The Great Leap, which is inspired by events from her own father's life and his short-lived basketball career. Will Davis will direct.
The mainstage production of Kevin Armento’s Good Men Wanted, based on the true stories of women who disguised themselves as men to fight in the Civil War, will feature Orange Is the New Black’s Asia Kate Dillon, Molly Ranson (Carrie), Mayaa Boateng, Tom Coiner, Alex Esola, Emma Meltzer, Doron Mitchell, and Flor De Liz Perez. Jaki Bradley directs, with choreography by Ani Taj. Performances run July 20–30.
Workshop casting remains to be announced for the new musical The Secret Life of Bees, featuring a book by Lynn Nottage, music by Duncan Sheik, and lyrics by Susan Birkenhead. Sam Gold will direct the production based on Sue Monk Kidd’s novel. It runs July 27-29.
