As Bees in Honey Drown, Douglas Carter Beane's ultimate Manhattan satire ventures into longhorn country on May 8, when it opens at the Live Oak Theatre in Austin, TX. The production marks the Off-Broadway comedy's regional premiere. Beane's play tells the story of Evan Wyler, a neophyte novelist who is duped by serial scam artist and self-made celebrity Alexa Vere de Vere. Babs George stars as Alexa, a role originated by J. Cameron Smith. John Vincent Hoff is Wyler. Also in the cast are Catherine Glynn, Boni Hester, David Stokey and Ken Webster. No director has been announced.
