"Theater Talk" Discusses Fiddler and They Wrote That? Feb. 27

News   "Theater Talk" Discusses Fiddler and They Wrote That? Feb. 27 The new Off-Broadway musical They Wrote That? and the current revival of Fiddler on the Roof will be the subjects of the Feb. 27 edition of "Theater Talk," the PBS talk show that offers interviews with top theatre celebrities and writers.

Guests for the broadcast include writer Thane Rosenbaum, who penned a controversial cultural essay in the Los Angels Times about the new production of Fiddler on the Roof. Rosenbaum claims the latest revival of the classic musical lacks ethnic authenticity. Also appearing on the PBS program are Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil, the veteran songwriting team whose works — "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'," "Sometimes When We Touch," "Just Once" and "On Broadway" — are featured in They Wrote That?. Fiddler on the Roof, directed by David Leveaux, plays the Minskoff Theatre (200 West 45th Street) and stars Alfred Molina as Tevye and Tony Award winner Randy Graff as Golde. Richard Maltby, Jr. directed They Wrote That?, which plays the McGinn Cazale Theatre, 2162 Broadway (at 76th Street).

Hosted by New York Post theatre columnist Michael Riedel and producer Susan Haskins, "Theatre Talk" airs late Friday nights at midnight on WNET/Thirteen.
