"Theater Talk" will salute the hit new Broadway musical Hairspray on Friday, Nov. 15.
The acclaimed PBS talk show that offers interviews with top theatre celebrities and writers will welcome Hairspray composer Marc Shaiman, lyricist Scott Wittman as well as two of the show's stars, Dick Latessa and Jackie Hoffman. Latessa stars as Wilbur Turnblad — husband to Edna (Harvey Fierstein) and father of Tracy (Marissa Jaret Winokur) in the musical at the Neil Simon Theatre; Hoffman plays three roles in the production — Prudy Pingleton, the psycho gym teacher and the jailhouse matron.
The "Theater Talk" broadcast will conclude with composer Shaiman performing one of the musical's most exciting numbers, "Welcome to the '60s."
Hosted by New York Post theatre columnist Michael Riedel and producer Susan Haskins, "Theatre Talk" airs late Friday nights at midnight on WNET/Thirteen.
