Theater Ten Ten presents a five-week spring mainstage production of Berlin to Broadway With Kurt Weill beginning April 27. The show opens officially April 28 and is scheduled to run through May 28.
The city's longest operating Equity Off-Off Broadway theatre company will present this "magical journey through the career of Kurt Weill" which features lyrics by Weill collaborators Maxwell Anderson, Marc Blitzstein, Bertolt Brecht, Jaques Deval, Michael Feingold, Ira Gershwin, Paul Green, Langston Hughes, Alan Jay Lerner, Ogden Nash, George Tabori, Arnold Weinstein and text and format by Gene Lerner.
The show "Berlin to Broadway," comprises well-known songs from the '20s through the '50s including “Mack the Knife," “September Song” and lesser known works like “Progress” and “How Can You Tell an American?”
Featured in the cast are Judith Jarosz (New York City Opera), Lorinda Lisitza (OB's Daddy’s Girl, Bjorn Olsson ("Raoul" in Hamburg Germany's Phantom of the Opera) and Michael Winther (Broadway’s 1776).
Hal Simons (original choreographer for OB's Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding) directs and choreographs Berlin to Broadway, The production team includes musical director Jason Wynn, lighting and set designer Kari Martin, costume designer Gail Baldoni and production stage manager Ann Greyson.
