News Théâtre du Châtelet's Into the Woods Broadcast on Radio France April 15 Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's Into the Woods, which had its French premiere at Paris' Théâtre du Châtelet April 1-12, is broadcast on Radio France April 15.

Over the last four years, Sondheim's musicals have been prominently featured at the Châtelet with A Little Night Music (2010), Sweeney Todd (2012) and Sunday in the Park With George (2013). All of these productions were directed by Lee Blakeley, who reprised his directorial duties for Into the Woods.

The cast includes Kimy McLaren (Cinderella), Nicholas Garrett (Baker), Christine Buffle (Baker's Wife), Beverley Klein (Witch), Pascal Charbonneau (Jack), Damian Thantrey (Cinderella's Prince and Wolf 1), David Curry (Rapunzel's Prince and Wolf 2), Rebecca de Pont Davies (Jack's Mother), Francesca Jackson (Little Red Riding Hood), Louise Alder (Rapunzel), Leslie Clack (Narrator), Elisa Doughty (Florinda), Lucy Page (Lucinda), Scott Emerson (Cinderella's Father), Kate Combault (Cinderella's Mother and Grandmother), Jasmine Roy (Cinderella's Stepmother), Dorine Cochenet (Sleeping Beauty), Cécilia Proteau (Snow White) and Jonathan Gunthorpe (Steward).

French stage and film star Fanny Ardant lent her voice to the Giant.

David Charles Abell conducted the Orchestre de Chambre de Paris. Into the Woods, which explores the shadows of well-known children's fairytales, premiered on Broadway Nov. 5, 1987, at the Martin Beck Theatre, where it ran for 764 performances.
