Roberto Araujo, a photographer whose work has appeared in Playbill and numerous other publications, will star in Do You Dream in Spanish? July 17 at the Wild Project Theatre, 195 E. 3rd St.
Part of the Fresh Fruit Festival, the 9 PM performance features additional material written by Michael Perrie Jr., direction by Lacy Reily, musical direction by Joshua Stephen Kartes, and choreography by Lori Leshner.
Araujo describes himself as a "photographer, singer, gay man, actor, New Yorker, dancer, and immigrant," but says the one question he hears more than any other is "Do you dream in Spanish?" Billed as "a multimodal experience," the evening will feature the music of Loesser, Lutvak, Gershwin, and original songs by Perrie Jr. and Araujo, alongside the latter's photographic body of work.
The performance explores Araujo's personal search for identity; it is a journey through his life featuring music, dance, and photography.
