Theatre Rhinoceros, the 23-year-old gay and lesbian theatre group in San Francisco, ends its staging of their namesake Eugene Ionesco's Rhinoceros Feb. 11. The absurdist classic began Jan. 13 with Colman Domingo directing.

Moving Rhinoceros to the rapidly gentrifying Mission District, Theatre Rhinoceros gives a San Francisco twist to this tale of Beranger, an unhappy employee of an not-for-profit agency who finds that every one else keeps turning into rhinoceroses. Ionesco's other plays include The Bald Soprano and The Chairs.

Alexis Levin takes the traditionally male role of Beranger. Levin is the host of "Independent View" and recently appeared in As Bees in Honey Drown with TheatreWorks as well as several Theatre Rhinoceros productions (The Last Hairdresser, The Lady in Question, The Stand In. Joining her will be P.A. Cooley as Jean. Her credits include The Last Hairdresser, The Stand-In and The P.A. Cooley Holiday Special.
