Initially developed during TheatreWorks' 2012 New Works Festival, The Loudest Man on Earth will run July 10-Aug. 4 in Palo Alto. It will feature deaf actor Adrian Blue. Here's how it's billed: "This sizzling romantic comedy follows a deaf, reclusive stage director and a bold, charismatic journalist as they work together to navigate a police bust, a senile grandmother, Koko the signing gorilla, a slick car salesman, and their budding, uncertain romance."

Jon Robin Baitz's Tony Award-nominated drama Other Desert Cities, about a Republican family whose Christmas is derailed when their liberal daughter comes home with a tell-all book, will run Aug. 21-Sept. 15 in Mountain View.

Kenneth Lin's Warrior Class will run Oct.9-Nov. 3 in Mountain View. Here's how it's billed: "A son of Chinese immigrants, decorated war veteran, and charismatic speaker on the cusp of his political career, congressional candidate Julius Lee is dubbed 'The Republican Obama.' When word of a youthful indiscretion threatens scandal, he discovers the dangerous intersection of politics and idealism. This incisive political drama offers insight into the cutthroat world of hardball politics with a taut, topical saga of backroom engineering."

The musical of Louisa May Alcott's Little Women, by Allan Knee, Mindi Dickstein and Jason Howland, will bring the March sisters to Palo Alto Dec 4-29. Also planned is the regional premiere of Lauren Gunderson's Silent Sky, which will play Mountain View Jan. 15-Feb. 9, 2014. According to TheatreWorks, "Astonishing discoveries await Henrietta Leavitt as she maps distant stars in galaxies beyond our own. But this brilliant, headstrong pioneer must struggle for recognition in the man's world of early 1900s astronomy. In this exquisite blend of science, history, family ties, and fragile romance from rising playwright Lauren Gunderson (Exit, Pursued by a Bear) a passionate young woman must map her own journey through a rigid society determined to keep a woman 'in her place.'"

Following will be the Tony Award-nominated Lynn Ahrens-Stephen Flaherty musical Once On This Island, which tells the story of a peasant girl who sacrifices everything for love on an island in the French Caribbean. It will run March 5-30, 2014, in Palo Alto. Steven Canny and John Nicholson's comedic adaptation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's mystery The Hound of the Baskervilles will run April 2-27, 2014, in Mountain View. Also planned is the Stephen Sondheim musical revue Marry Me a Little, created by Craig Lucas and Norman Rene, which runs June 4-29, 2014, in Mountain View.
